Public Forum: CIVIC SALON Made for You & Me

Joe's Pub

Sunday, April 22 at 12pm

Free for all.

As the topic of immigration looms large and U.S. troops are headed to the Mexico-US border, we welcome journalist and activist Maria Hinojosa to deliver this month’s Civic Salon keynote. Maria is the anchor & executive producer of NPR’s Latino USA and founder, president, and CEO of Futuro Media Group. She will join us with an incisive look at how, documented or otherwise, we treat our American neighbors. CIVIC SALON: Made for You & Me will also feature poetry from Sonia Guiñansaca and music from Michael Thurber.

In a climate of divisiveness and seclusion, Public Forum is opening its doors to invite audiences to join us every month for CIVIL SALON: a monthly brunch-time gathering where we can come together in the spirit of community to nurture our minds and our bodies. Each month will feature a different theme and different participants who will bring readings, songs, and a keynote address – all chosen in the hopes of inspiring civic engagement and social change.

The Philip and Janice Levin Foundation provides lead support for The Public's access and engagement programming.
